Hospital Care & Surgery

We proudly partner with Walter Reed National Military Medical Center at Bethesda to offer elective, same day outpatient surgical procedures in our three operating rooms.  If you require ambulatory surgery and would like to avoid going into the city, we encourage you to discuss your options for having your procedure here at Kimbrough.

Kimbrough serves active duty, retirees, family members, and specially designated patients. Our patients' age range is from infants greater than 3 months to the geriatric patient. As an ambulatory care facility we are only suitable for certain surgical procedures. There is no in-patient capability (overnight stay) at Kimbrough, and it is the goal to discharge all patients to their home, with a responsible escort, with their surgical pain well-controlled. Those rare patients who have intractable nausea and vomiting, or poorly controlled pain management, will require transfer to a tertiary care facility for more definitive care.

Patients are scheduled for surgery through their referring surgeons. The surgeons may be assigned to Walter Reed Army Medical Center, National Naval Medical Center, Kimbrough Ambulatory Care Center, Annapolis Navy Medical Clinic, and the Pentagon.

Walk-in Wound Care

Walk-in suture removal is done Mon- Fri: 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. You must have a doctor’s order that specifies what is to be done, when the surgery took place and a discharge summary or other documentation noting when sutures are to be removed.
