We have a highly-trained, board-certified exceptionally skilled civilian physician. Our nurses, administrative personnel, and technicians are dedicated to providing you with compassionate, quality care. We strive to foster an environment that supports evidence-based practice and process improvement through research and community standards. We're committed to treating all people with respect, kindness, and professionalism.
We serve all individuals 18-65 years of age. Patients with liver issues or inflammatory bowel disease may be referred to Walter Reed/Bethesda. Generally, a GI consult from your Primary Care Manager is required to be seen in the GI clinic.
All appointments for colorectal cancer screening require a referral.
Appointments
For new and follow-up GI patients, an appointment can be made by calling the central appointment line at 301-677-8800 or our appointment line at 301-677-8138. After your initial visit with a GI Provider, the GI staff will schedule you for an endoscopic procedure (Colonoscopy and/or EGD) if deemed appropriate.
The clinic receptionist or nurse will attempt to schedule you for this additional appointment while you're at your clinic visit with the GI Provider.
Clinic consultation appointments usually take about 30-45 minutes. Procedure appointments can take up to 3 hours. As most GI procedures are done with some degree of anesthesia, you're required to have an escort with you on the day of a procedure.
If you're more than 10 minutes late, we may need to reschedule you, depending upon how many patients are already scheduled that day. This will be done on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the provider.
If you're late for your procedure appointment, we may need to reschedule you, or cancel you altogether. Depending on the number of patients, we may take someone who has a later appointment first if they arrive before you do to maintain the flow and timing of procedures for that day. This will be done on a case-by-case basis, at the discretion of the provider.
We don't have the capacity to care for children while you're in your appointment/procedure. Please make arrangements for someone to care for your children while you're here.
For life and death emergencies, please call 911. If you're not having an emergency, but need care after normal operating hours, please go to the nearest emergency room. We don't have any emergency services at Kimbrough.
