  • If you had a current TRICARE Online account, it was migrated to MHS GENESIS on March 25.  No action is necessary from you.

What happens next?

Appointment availability from March through May 2023 will be affected, and appointment times may increase as our providers and clinical staff adjust to new technology and workflows. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we integrate MHS GENESIS to provide you with top-notch care.

No. At this time, the ability to request refills via the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal is disabled. The capability is part of an ongoing, future project. You may review a current list of medications via the portal. If you do not see a medication listed, please send a secure message to your provider team.

What will happen to my old medical records?
Existing electronic health records will continue to be available to providers once Kimbrough starts using MHS GENESIS. Your electronic (AHLTA) chart will be visible in a legacy viewer application, so there is no need to request physical copies in advance of the transition. Additionally, any inactive paper charts sent to for digital upload will also be viewable in legacy applications connected to MHS GENESIS.
What should I do with my paper medical records?
There is no need to request new copies in advance of the transition. If you already have personal paper copies, we do recommend keeping those. If feasible, you may want to scan and back up on an external hard drive. If you do choose to digitize your personal copies, please ensure you have proper digital storage safeguards to protect your personal health information.
What is the DS Logon?
DS Logon is a secure, self-service, single sign-on capability that provides validation of a user's identity for DoD and Department of Veterans Affairs partner websites.  DS Logon accounts require your identity to be authenticated (you are who you say you are) prior to visiting DoD and VA partner web sites. Authentication can occur by using your CAC or through in-person or online remote proofing.
What is online remote proofing?
Online remote proofing is a multi-step process to validate your identity. The Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) contracts with a data provider that verifies your identity through information that only you should know. You will need to agree to a soft-inquire on our credit report (does not impact your credit score). Prior to beginning the process of remote proofing, ensure information in DEERS is current. The system will select one of three methods to remote proof: financial verification + knowledge=based quiz; document upload + selfie; knowledge-based quiz + document upload. All information sent to the data vendor is encrypted, protected and is only used to verify identity at the time of remote proofing. This added layer of verification is to protect Personally Identifiable Information and Personal Health Information.

** An update to creating the DS Logon account now bypasses the financial verification. The preferred method to create a DSL account for MILITARY DEPENDENTS, RETIREES AND DEPENDENTS: Use the email registration function by selecting "Email Registration" when prompted. An email with activation code will be sent to the unique email address on file with instructions. Before using this option, all email addresses for all family members (e.g., sponsor, spouse, and children) must be unique and cannot be a duplicate with any family member. Go to the "Need Support" button to review the steps.

Who can get a DS Logon account?
  • DS Logon accounts are available to:
  • Service members (active duty, Guard/Reservists)
  • Veterans and Retirees
  • Spouses, including former spouses who are beneficiaries
  • Eligible family members (age 18 +)
  • DoD Civilians and Contractors
You must be enrolled in Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) to get a DS Logon Account.
Why have a DS Logon Account?
DS Logon is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, except during scheduled maintenance. The DS Logon account provides the DoD and VA with a high level of confidence that you are who you say you are and allows you to access all the partner web sites with a single username/password from any internet-connected device without the need of a CAC reader.
