Command Sergeant Major, MEDDAC, Fort George G. Meade

CSM Kathleen Hedges

Command Sergeant Major Kathleen Hedges currently serves as the Command Sergeant Major to the Fort Meade MEDDAC which includes multiple U.S. Army health clinics.  In this role, she serves as the Fort Meade MEDDAC commander’s principal military advisor on all enlisted matters affecting training, utilization, health of the force in order to maintain medically ready and ready medical forces to support the Army mission.

CSM Kathleen A. Hedges was raised in Rochester, Massachusetts and entered the military in September 2001 as a 68W combat medic. Completing basic combat training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, and advanced initial training to be a certified combat medic at Fort Sam Houston, TX.

Her assignments include Line Combat Medic and Company Medic, 511th Military Police at Fort Drum, NY under the 18th ABN Corps. She deployed multiple times with this unit from the rank of Private First Class to Sergeant; Operations NCOIC, Headquarters & Headquarters  Company for the 1st Brigade Support Troop Battalion at Camp Hovey ROC; OBGYN Clinic NCOIC, MEDDAC at Fort Drum, NY; Small Group Leader, NCO Academy at Fort Drum, NY; Airborne Instructor, 1/507th Parachute Infantry Regiment, Fort Moore, GA; G33 NCOIC, MEDCOM at Falls Church, VA; Observer Controller, 291st Brigade Support Battalion at Fort McCoy, WI; Chief of Operations, Keller Army Community Hospital at West Point, NY; Most recent assignment, Executive Officer to the MEDCOM CSM, Office of the Surgeon General, Falls Church, VA.

CSM Hedges has completed the following military training 68W Combat Medic Advanced Individual Training; National Registry Emergency Medical Technician; Combat Lifesaver Certified Instructor; Basic Instructors Course; Small Group Instructors Course; Health Services Operators Course (70H); Air Assault; Airborne; Jumpmaster; Pathfinder Basic Leaders Course; Advanced Leaders Course; Senior Leaders Course; Sergeants Majors Academy; Battalion Pre-Command Course; and BN CSM Pre-Command Development Program. CSM Hedges civilian education includes Bachelor of Science in Organizational Communication from Empire State College, and a Bachelor of Science in Leadership Development from CGSC is a lifelong learner. She is currently pursuing her master’s in organizational development and change from Penn State University.

CSM Hedges has received the following awards: Legion of Merit, Meritorious (1OLC); Service Medals; Army Commendation Medals (8 OLC); Army Achievement Medals (6OLC); Army Good Conduct Medals (6th Award); Nation Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal (1 Bronze Star); Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Korean Defense Service Medal; Army NCO Professional Development Ribbon (5th Numeral); Armed Forces Service Medal, and the Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd Numeral).
