COL Elizabeth A. DeSitter
Colonel Elizabeth "Betsy" DeSitter serves as the Kimbrough Ambulatory Care Center director and the Fort Meade Medical Department Activity commander. In this capacity, she is responsible for ensuring enrolled beneficiaries throughout the MEDDAC's extensive area of responsibility throughout Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and the District of Columbia, receive quality, patient-centered care that allow them to maintain their readiness.
Col. DeSitter hails from Lisle, Illinois. She was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in June 2006 through the Wheaton College Army ROTC program. She holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science and Broadcast Communications from North Central College (Naperville, IL), a Master of Arts in Security Studies from the Naval Postgraduate School (Monterey, CA), a Master of Business Administration from Old Dominion University (Norfolk, VA), and a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from the Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy (Washington, DC).
Col. DeSitter’s previous assignments include Executive Officer (XO), 64th Medical Detachment (Veterinary Services), Kaiserslautern, Germany; Battalion S1, 421st Multifunctional Medical Battalion (MMB), Wiesbaden, Germany; Adjutant and Deputy Chief, Clinical Operations, Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC), Landstuhl, Germany; Hospital S1 and Bravo Company Commander, 121st Combat Support Hospital (CSH), Seoul, South Korea; Brigade S2 and Chief, Medical Operations, 62nd Medical Brigade, Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLM), WA; Hospital S3 and Executive Officer, 47th CSH, JBLM, WA; Sustainment Exercise Planner, Joint Staff J7, Joint Exercise Division, Suffolk, VA; Commander, Andrew Rader U.S. Army Health Clinic (ARUSAHC), Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, VA. She most recently served as the XO to the Deputy Surgeon General, Falls Church, VA.
Her professional military education includes the U.S. Army Medical Department (AMEDD) Officer Basic Course, AMEDD Officer Advanced Course, Intermediate Level Education (Naval War College, Monterey, CA), and the Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy (Washington, DC).
Col. DeSitter deployed to Balad, Iraq, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (2008-2009) and Baghdad, Iraq, in support of Operation Inherent Resolve (2017-2018).
She has earned the Expert Field Medical Badge (EFMB), the Parachutist Badge, the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (Gold), the Joint Staff Badge, and the Order of Military Medical Merit (O2M3).
