Radiology

The Radiology Department provides diagnostic radiographic services to all eligible Active Duty military, retirees, family members and DOD civilian employees. All radiographic procedures of the head, trunk and extremities are performed. All other procedures can be scheduled at Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC) and Kimbrough Ambulatory Care Center (KACC) with assistance from our staff. 
 

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an appointment for a routine radiographic procedure?

No. Just arrive 30 minutes prior to 4:30 p.m.

Are radiation protective devices available for shielding of patients?

Yes. They are routinely used, when shielding does not interfere with the area in question.

Are pediatric restraining devices available?

Yes. Routinely used for children 2 years and under.

Are pregnancy questions asked, before radiographic procedures are performed?

Yes. Pregnancy questionnaires are completed by all females between the ages of 12 and 55 years old.

Situated between Baltimore, Md., (46 miles) and Washington, D.C., (45 miles), Frederick County, Md., adjoins Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. The major highways that access the county are 1-70, I-270, U.S. 15, U.S. 40, U.S. 40A and U.S. 340. Frederick County is easily accessible by automobile, air, train, and motorcoach. Reagan National, Dulles International and Baltimore/Washington International airports are less than an hour from Frederick, which is also served by Frederick Municipal Airport. A Greyhound Bus Service is also located in Frederick City. There is a MARC commuter rail station in downtown Frederick.



 

All visitors must use the Nallin Pond gate.  All visitors must stop at the Visitor's Center located on the right immediately after turning from Opposumtown Pike.

 Nallin Pond gate is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is open for Inbound/Outbound vehicles, pedestrian traffic, visitors, commercial traffic and Federal ID holders.

Individuals with Federally Issued Identification

  • Take Interstate 695 around Baltimore to Interstate 70 West.
  • In Frederick, take Exit #53, Route 15 North.
  • Follow Rt 15 North to the 7th Street exit.
  • Turn right on 7th Street, follow 4 blocks to Fort Detrick's Main Gate.

Visitors and Deliveries

  • Take Interstate 695 around Baltimore to Interstate 70 West.
  • In Frederick, take Exit #53, Route 15 North.
  • Follow Rt 15 North to the Motter Avenue Exit.
  • The exit circles around and you bear to the right an proceed onto Opossumtown Pike. Follow Opossumtown Pike for approximately 1 mile.  Turn left at the traffic signal at Amber Road.
  • You must stop at the visitor's center on the immediate right after making the turn to receive a visitor's pass.

Directions from Hagerstown, Md.

  • Take Interstate 70 East to Rt. 15 North (Exit #52).
  • Follow Rt 15 North to the 7th Street Exit.
  • Turn right on 7th Street follow 4 blocks to Fort Detrick's Main Gate.

  • Take Interstate 70 East to Rt. 15 North (Exit #52).
  • Follow Rt 15 North to the Motter Avenue exit.
